I am literally watching Poldark right now. Previously I had assumed a Poldark was a small Scottish cat (polecat!) My parents got ridiculously excited when it got remade (even more so than when Dallas got the re-boot.) My mum says the new!Poldark is less good looking than the original. Also at least 50% of the show seems to be of him on a horse galloping across the same stretch of moody cliff meadow.
I think I knew it was something to do with Cornwall, because of the Pol- prefix, but I've definitely been discovering how big the 1970s TV show was for people.
Oh yes, take away the broody close-ups, the pictures of the sea and the horse-riding and there's not much left. But it is pretty padding, even if it's actually distancing.
