Saw some of the movies on your list [Stardust I really want to see having read the book], but for me most of them were disappointing...

I did like Harry Potter a lot, but I expected more out of Bourne Ultimatum (can't really remember the movie now) and Pirates. Ocean's 13 was better than expected, but I had very low expectations after the second in the series, which I found horrible.

But I do wish I could have seen 46 films like you last year... :)

Stardust is cool, and mostly does the book proud.

I think a lot of the bigger blockbusters on this list, which were mostly parts of franchises, did carry a lot of expectation (some of the smaller movies felt like 'finds' then, without that level of hype). I'd lowered my expectations for Ocena's 13, and the same is true of that trilogy as POTC - the first one was by far the best.

About the 46 films, I kind of have to go see at least three films a month to make my subscription card thingy be worthwhile, so...

Makes sense about the subscription card. I wish I had one like this. I imagine the possibilities...

I think the best way is to minimize the expectations. That way you don't get disappointed. I hadn't known what to expect from 10000BC before to see it, and actually enjoyed it better for that.

I can't agree about minimising expectations. I still get a thrill on sitting down to see a long-awaited blockbuster. Okay, I'm probably more of a realist than I sound, because I do some research which feds into my expectations - 10,000 BC was exactly what I expcted, given that it was directed by Roland EMmerich - SPECTACULAR, with a dollop of silly, but very entertaining.
