Thank you for the comments (and for leaving fb at NWP) it means a lot. I really am glad that it worked for you.

The idea, to base it all on that scene in Sandeman's house is brilliant. Of course he'd feel hurt and disappointed and left out and it might very well cause Alec to go away.
It just niggled at me that he never got to express some completely justified annoyance or disappintment, which I always expect to happen in the second ahlf after Max particularly lets him down.Just one exchange! But no, we never got it, so the idea grew from that.

And I basically love writing situations where Max stops taking Alec for granted.

I like how you write Max and Alec, very much.

Oh yeah, I did manage to not use them. Heh, much like Max's apology. Still, I'm sincerely glad that that came off.
