[ Layton should have been expecting this and a part of him has. While it's been a full hour since that video feed, he has still be having a pretty hard time to keep himself calm. So, after he puts his top hat back on, the small box in his pocket, and rubbed at his eyes, he goes on over to open the door. ]

Luke, is there something you need? [ He sounds better, but he doesn't look like it. It can easily come off as a very sleepless night if not for the video feed... ]

[ Watching the video is almost painful. Something about the rawness and the emotions and the fact that it's motherfuckin' puzzle solver professor Layton. Someone he kind of respects despite how annoying those puzzles can be and the fact that someone can be so enthusiastic about them is just weird.

And seeing him of all people like this? It stirs something in you and twists it around. He doesn't like it and somewhere deep down, he wants to go to wherever Layton is and give the man a hug and offer his condolences. Or instead of a hug, a shoulder to cry on. But he isn't anywhere near Cyanwood and he would probably hesitate to do anything if he was. Dealing with emotions - both his own and others' - had never been his strong suit.

So he opts for a text message. It's neutral and doesn't carry the tone of worry that would slip into his voice. ]

His Noctowl has taken notice shortly after he has sat down on it and it has thought it's best not to bother its trainer with it.
