Great job on the flashback, I think you conveyed it in a manner that even people who aren't familiar with Bones would feel the intensity of that situation. Interesting portrayal of Vega, was he your invention or a part of the series that I missed? Either way I think you wrote him excellently. I think you're doing a nice job of building up a sense of foreboding and tension. Keep writing! I want to know what happens next :o)

Vega is a character from the "Bones" episode where Brennan is taken by the Grave Digger. He's a K&R guy (kidnap and ransom) who quit the Bureau after objecting to its policy on ransom demands. Every family who's had a ransom demand from the Grave Digger and paid has used him as a go between. Booth accuses him of having some kind of mutual profit relationship with the Grave Digger. He was so compelling I couldn't help bringing him in. You'll see the kind of role he plays later.

Since both you and Raphaela commented on Grace's reaction to the non-payment policy at the Bureau, I decided to deal with that head on in my next chapter. It's making for quite the scene!
