i do think that you may have missed an opportunity for rachel and john to bond by skipping over the repurcussions of nathan's death. there's a lot of emotional resonance for john in his friendship with nathan and i think that if you show john being emotional you're going to give rachel more of a chance to reach out to john and for him to accept the help she offers. and that will ultimately lead to some great moments for them. just a thought. i'm a john/rachel fan, too.
(PS-- if you have Season 4 on DVD, watch Clifton Campbell's commentary for "On Your Marks." He talks a lot about the direction he wanted ?John's character to go in Season 5 of Profiler and what he was planning to do with John and Rachel as a couple)
