Normally not something I talk about a lot!  But Valentine's Day is just around the corner [hypocritical self-pity redacted].  Plus, JK Rowling just stunned the known universe with her admission that Ron and Hermione may not have made the best couple and that maybe it should have been Harry and Hermione.  So if she can go there, I can.  And I am ( Read more... )

Have you been in a fandom where one source says the main couple is canon, yet another says one of the main couples' members should've been with someone else?

Oh, Lordy. Have I EVER. (See icon.) I was just talking about this with a friend of mine. The Harry Potter shipping wars were awful, but they were also kind of awesome, because it was an evolving canon and no one could say for certain what was going to happen. I remember people mailing JK Rowling the Book 6 jacket covers because they were so mad about Ron and Hermione.

I think where I come down on it is that the books are the books and that's what's canon, but there are legitimate other ways to read them. The author's post mortem counts for something, but not a lot more than other opinions.

But you mean two different *canon* sources? Is it a book or interviews or something?

EDIT: Love your blog, BTW.

Thanks.

The anime of G Gundam had a different director than the regular Gundam series. G Gundam's anime had Domon Kasschu fall in love with his childhood sweetheart, Rain Mikamura. The manga makes it seem like he's cheating with someone who didn't appear until the second half of the anime. Gundam's original creator likes the manga's idea of the relationship.

Usually, I'm indifferent about shipping as well as you are.
