I just went looking for the actual photos from my Sims folder, and realized that they were probably (along with about eighty pounds of CC, neighborhood backups, etc.) on the hard drive I used to back things up on.  I went to find them, then realized I couldn't access it--because my new computer doesn't have the correct kind of port ( Read more... )

I run into this most often with printers. Old printer still works? Yep. New computer works? Yep. Printer and computer work together? Nope, wrong port. (although sometimes it's a driver problem rather than a hardware one.

I gave up on trying to use most external backup devices because of this! Now I do it like the cavemen did by putting everything on RW-DVD (though it was CD in the past, which so far every media drive can still read, even 10+ years on). :P Not the most cost effective way to go, but that external harddrive I bought 2 years ago was expensive AND a useless brick now.
