Can I please have my birthday back?  It's bad enough that I can't even talk to my parents because they have no power and no cell service, and that a lot of the places I remember from my childhood are gone,  but the total cancelling of Halloween is making me feel really depressed. I'm sorry--mine's April 19, which is pretty bad, too. I have a no news policy on my birthday: it'll all be there tomorrow. (In my co-op in college, of 53 girls, 3 of us had 4/19 for a birthday. We put on Labyrinth and The Princess Bride. I can highly recommend that plus cake and ice cream as a distraction.)
We're on the other side of the Rockies, and I'm taking my kids trick-or-treating. So think of a ninja child and three transformers and a baby mad at being in a cow outfit, and have a very happy birthday and All Hallows Eve. (And All Souls Day, All Saints Day, Reformation Day, Samhain . . . we can have lots of holidays this week.) And pitch out the paper, turn off the tv, and stay off the news sites.
We have family out of touch (Long Island and New Jersey Barrier Islands) and family in touch (Delaware and Pennsylvania), and there's not a thing we can do for them but pray. Glad yours are safe.

D: That really sucks. I hope your birthday turns out as good as it can be under the circumstances.

Mannn, people need to stop being killjoys about Halloween. Next Halloween I am going to celebrate it properly (can't here as I'm living with a bunch of killjoys, haha--my parents don't even hand out candy.)

I'm sorry that you're feeling down during your birthday. I hope it will be a great one regardless of anything that has been putting you down.
