Just a note on conversions

As most of you know, the Exchange is back up, which is good.  However, the conversion process has been a bit delayed for me ( Read more... )

It's sort of there if you bypass the main homepage and go directly to the exchange. If I try and go through the main page I get the down for maintenance message again, but if I go straight to the exchange page, I get the exchange.

I'm only going through the Boolprop links. It's still tetchy and irritable.

The Exchange is extremely wonky right now! I'm currently converting BW's Legacy Du Jour, and it does get overly tiring when the Exchange goes down for a few abrupt moments. At least a lot of people managed to get most stuff out from the Exchange.:)

*nods* I was finding those problems as well last night and will be manually inserting the missing images in the few legacies that I've grabbed. Hitting refresh a few times seems to bring the pages back up. And my offer still stands if you want help converting.

Thank you! I think one of the major problems is that my first few chapters make me cringe. They are that terrible. I have a basic template for all of them; I'd like to slap a nicer cover page on them. I don't like where the conversions place the text, so I have to clean that up. But the real problem with the first several is something only I can fix. I should consider going from the last to the first: the last ones don't bug me as much.

*nods* I can grab/edit the first few if you want me to do so. We all cringe at our first chapters. I decided to leave mine alone (minus fixing some terrible spelling errors) when I put them back up though for the sake of history. :-)

Yeah, that's my view: fix the typos, leave the text.

I had similar problems last night as well. I was able to right click on the image, copy it, and paste it into the document though. Then I saved the entire thing as a power point instead of an open office presentation. Seems to work fine that way.

My biggest issue was that slideify couldn't "find" the id's for four of the chapters I was trying to grab. I'm going to try again this evening. I'll do a manual conversion if I can't get it to work. Time consuming, but worth it IMO.

Sometimes it works if you wait for a while, then type the chapter number in manually. Try that first.
