*facepalm*, or I had this coming

Maybe I deserve this, because I was so critical of Sims 3 when it came out.  I can't remember exactly why, but I think I was very leery of the whole "Neighborhood Aging" thing.  I didn't want my Sims dying or worse, moving to another neighborhood when I was off doing something else.  So I may have looked at it, whined for a little while that it ( Read more... )

I STILL can't decide if I want it. D: I'm watching that video immediately.

Also, geez. Why must people bitch about EVERYTHING?

I have no idea. I do have some sympathy for people who want horses, though! I had some CC horses at one time, but they were basically cars and backed out of the driveway going "VROOOOOM." I had to get rid of them because it weirded me out and I didn't have a good reason for needing them.

Ultimately as long as you're enjoying it, that's what's important! People get into these games for different reasons, so I can certainly see both sides. Plus the game's already out, so it's not like a lot of complaints are going to keep it from being made or anything. But yeah, I can definitely see how a game that sounds like it's a huge departure from using TS2 to create a legacy would be nice for you to have after having just finished yours. *nodnod*

This is it. I just need to play with something different for a change.

I've seen that a couple places now with no comments calling the poster a dirty liar. Maybe the plumbbobs and camera clipping are manageable after all?

"They've got too much competition" - what a great line.

Thanks! I will have to try that. It took me ages to figure out how to get honest to Gosh closeups in Sims 2, so I'm willing to concede that it's probably my own incompetence.

Haha, no way, same here! Even now it's still a combination of zooming in and out and moving the camera around. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I'm playing it now and still forming an opinion. I knew it wasn't going to be anything like sims 2 or have that style of gameplay so I'm not comparing the two. I will say that I'm slightly bored at the moment and I don't like the look of the sims much either. I'm hoping that's because I'm at "the new game, what do I do with it?" stage of playing. Also I am finding it frustrating that I can't get the camera at the angle I want: I'm too used to playing other games (not just the sims) where I can view the world from however I want.

Like De says, as long as you're enjoying it, that's what's important.

The camera is definitely a minus. I doubt they can fix it, but it's too bad: I'd like to see more closely.

I'll have to look at the review, but the quests are the main reason I haven't gotten this game yet and so far haven't planned to. I tend not to do well with quest type games and get frustrated if I cannot progress at a pace I want to which is part of the problem for me. Recently I have been wondering if a quest type game might be good to try again, although I am thinking of something more cute and cuddly and not Medieval. If there is nothing else that looks like something I could play for more than 5 minutes at a time we might give it more consideration.

Am curious to see reviews from my LiveJournal friends who are playing the game about how it works and how easy/hard it is to do because I find that typically tells me more than any other type of review.
