I don't need a future yet

Today I had the misfortune of going to lunch with my dad and grandmother, they both have the same repetitive, condecending, and annoying personality. They're hounding me to get in school and do something with my life, that's fine and dandy but every time I tell them my aspirations they both look at me and say "How much can you make doing that?",

As far as the remark that you don't need a future yet, I disagree. Regarding your dad pressuring you to do something with your life, and then trying to make that something what he wants it to be, that is bunk. You're right that it's better to find something you can be happy doing, but you also need to be able to make enough money to survive because, like it or not, you have to eat, and it's nice to have more shelter than a box in an alley. Preferrably a heated shelter. Which is not to say that fame and fortune should be your goals, either, if you're happy without them. But seriously, we're supposed to be grownups now.
