Wow, what a totally amazing bird! I'm awed! The chainsaw imitation was so real ... and chilling at the same time. Heh, if you ever have one as a pet, remember to invite me over hor. Erm, I can teach it to swear gazillion of langauges ... how's that? Hahaha!

What?! Teach it to swear??

That's so...common! A parrot could do that.
it would be better to teach it certain umm sound effects from certain colourful movies. well, after some sessions with us, it will definitely not be safe for entertaining the house guests with lol

I also say ah ... especially if the house guest is female. She'll be wondering what kinda, erm, intimate gatherings you organise at your place and might feel disgusted. If the house guest is male, on the other hand, you bet he'll ask you to include him the next you're throwing a party. LOL!

spaeking of chainsaws, i suddenly remember the horror movie texas chainsaw massacre. that lyre bird could be used as a sound effects tool lol. i can imagine a drumrolll during the Oscars as the camera pans across the several nomines for Best Sound Effects and you have the lyre bird staring back solemnly at the tv lol

That's so cool! I remember watching that documentary!!

I think the riflebird's courtship ritual is way cool too. Can't find a video of it on youtube tho.

i couldnt find much on riflebirds too - other than the obligatory wiki and some pictures. now my interest in nature is piqued again but i dont subscribe to cable since i dont have much time and i would probably only watch channels like Discovery lol.

there's an owl that barks on the animal reserve on phillip island in victoria, australia. when i saw the sign (well, it plainly stated "barking owl"), i was like "what kind of a STEWPIT moronic sign is that! cheeey!"

then the damn owl started barking. like a real dog. and my jaw dropped.

HILARIOUS!! :) go google it!!
