How Much Should A Guy Be Earning At Age Of 30?

I stumbled upon this amusing forum topic about the defining amount a Singaporean guy should be earning by 30 years old. The girl opined that $5k per month should be the minimum, but had some male friends berating her for being a "typical pink IC woman ( Read more... )

You know... its not always about the money! Maybe that many do make that much but I can guarantee you that not alot of them have a love and passion for their jobs and in life.

:O)

yea i agree that too often, passion is sacrificed in pursuit of money. where is the zest for living?! i have a private banking friend who makes (made? considering recent times lol) lots of money but puts in crazy work hours with hardly no rest. i dont think i could do that!

i guess there's lots of consider - lovewise, practicality and all. obviously, as a woman, i'll prefer my guy to earn more, and substantially enough to sustain us all, esp if there's mortgage and a family coming up. can't run away from those, food still needs to be placed on the table. hmm, unless he doesn't mind me earning more than him. i'll be honest - the more the better, but if not, i think it's not lethal. love, after all, should cause us to be capable of working around issues when the honeymoon period is over. perhaps. not that i know! :P

for sure, i do recognise the practicality aspect of the issue. i just wondered if the requisite amount by age 30 was realistic, and if women in general held similar views. given my assumption only 3 out of 10 men meets that "criteria", naturally there's gonna be some mismatch in supply / demand lol.

I never tot much about it actually. When I was dating around, the amount he draws every month wasn't that high up on my list of priority..

eh.. then again I mostly dated guys who happened to be pretty well employed (hb included) so I guess I'm lucky?

I did recall a case where this guy who was keen in me was drawing below 2k per month. I don't mind his salary, I just mind that he was wooing me to the stage of almost stalking me. I feel like I need an oxygen tank just to be around him.

I believe that so long a guy is willing to work hard to improve his career aspects, that counts more then how much he earns a month. Afterall, one may not always earn this amount (recall recent retrenchment)

wow.
that is so.. materialistic.
for me.. when a guy reaches 30. regardless of what's the size of his dough, the most impt thing to me is whether this fella has "direction" in his life. Does he have ambition? Does he know where he is heading next?
The man who knows where he is going, what is he doing will survive and prosper. :)
