medical fun + museum trouble

Last year I had some stomach problems for a few months that I figured out were probably symptoms of lactose intolerance, so I quit eating dairy, aside from the special lactaid stuff. That /should/ be an easy test. I wonder why it's not. Are they looking for metabolites in addition to glucose? Blood glucose should be measurable with a drop of blood from a finger puncture (as done daily by millions of diabetics) rather than a vial of blood from the arm.

It'd be far more exciting if they replicated the Viking biology experiments on you. Feed you radioactive lactose, and then see if you exhale radioactive CO2. No needles at all! That's probably why they don't let me practice medicine...

It's too bad about the Air and Space Museum. I'm glad I took in the Wings and Wheels show there earlier this year. I had considered volunteering to help rebuild their bomber, but I guess that project will be put on hold.
