omnimax double feature

D and I caught a double feature at the Ontario Science Centre Omnimax theatre today - first was Legends of Flight, followed by IMAX: Hubble 3D.

Legends of Flight was a little disappointing I'll admit. I had heard that the filmmakers captured great footage of the Boeing 787 first test flights, and had spent a bunch of time interviewing Mike ( Read more... )

Ah, but at least the universe is becoming less hostile every year. Now we have Gliese 581g. Potential liquid water, only 20 light years away! You and I won't make it, of course, but I have increasing hope for the species. And by the end of our days we may know much more about our environs even if we can't get there.

If we don't squander all our technology on 3D Star Wars remakes :P.

3-D Jar-Jar is too painful to contemplate...I'm distracting myself with hoping this comes true:

Cool. I'll confess that I've never listened to Year Zero. The last NIN I bought was The Fragile way back in '99. I have fun associations with that album. That year I played a lot of Roborally with jo_etal and leftofcool. The CD was in heavy rotation. Now I can't listen to some of those tracks without thinking of little hapless robots wandering around a factory floor.

The Downward Spiral remains my go-to album to be cranked obnoxiously loud when I'm on my own in the lab late at night.
