You've misrepresented hedonism (although it's refreshing that not everyone thinks hedonism is an egoistic lust for sex, drugs and rock'n'roll ). Hedonism is simply the belief that happiness is the only thing that is intrinsically valuable and suffering is the only thing that is intrinsically dis-valuable, therefore, actions should be considered moral only if it minimizes/increases aggregate suffering and happiness. Hedonists do not support or reject any specific policy, they simply base their arguments for or against any action on the likeliness of it minimizing stress/increasing happiness.

Hedonists believe that the happiness and suffering of all sentient beings is equally valuable and dis-valuable since no one being's happiness/stress can be considered qualitatively more positive or negative. For this reason, hedonists believe that the interests of all beings deserve equal consideration and respect.
