She watched the woman wander into her classroom and look around with interest.
“Yes very much, thank you. I almost got lost but found Severus and he showed me his classroom. I like yours better.” She added as she stood at the window and looked puzzled at the field. “What is that?” She asked and pointed. Minerva shook her head, it was like conversing with a three year old, well a three year old with a killer figure. No Minerva don’t think about that now.
“That is the quiddich field, it is..”
“Yes I know. So I was talking to Severus and he told me something very interesting about you.” Minerva groaned, oh god what had Severus told her.
“Oh god, I am afraid to ask, what did he tell you.”
“That you are the most powerful witch of your time and you can do something called wandless magic. He also said that it was scary to be around you when you are angry.” Minerva was stunned, Severus said this?
“Yes I can do wandless magic, as to being the most powerful witch of my time I don’t know about that, but I can say that the comment about my temper is right on.” She smirked and waved her wand toward the door summing Albus. Maybe she should show this woman what she could do and figure out what Severus is up to. Miranda however was too interested at the silver spirit of a cat that she made appear.
“What is that?” She asked as she watched it run from the room, she made to follow it but was stopped by Minerva’s voice, “Ms. Priestly, don’t follow it. That was a patronous. Every witch and wizard has a different patronous symbol, mine is a tabby cat.” She watched Miranda as the wheels turned in her head and something clicked.
“Can’t you turn into a cat?” She asked and then realized she sounded like an idiot. She blushed. Instead of answering Minerva stood and walked toward Miranda changing mid-step. Miranda looked wide eyed at the cat that stood where Minerva once did and she knelt to the floor. “Oh my God,” was all she could think to say. But then to make it worse Minerva came over and placed her two front paws on Miranda’s knees and meowed. Miranda just stared and then he jumped when she heard chuckling behind her.
“She is telling you that it is okay to pat her,” said Albus as she looked down at the two women. Miranda reached out a shaky hand and gently brushed the cat’s head before pulling away and saying, “thank you, could you change back now?” Minerva moved away and was human again holding out a hand to Miranda who was still on the floor. She accepted it but felt an odd tingle when her hand touched Minerva’s. Both woman jumped back and Albus nodded his head once. He was not surprised about this but was concerned about how to get Miranda back to her world. He would deal with what was conspiring between them later, he only hoped that his plan would work.
“Ms. Priestly, what is the year in your world?”
“2010, have you found a way to get me home?” Asked Miranda as she approached the elder wizard and looked up into his twinkling blue eyes. Albs smiled down at her and guided her over to one of the desks offering her a chair, which she accepted although she raised her eyebrows at him.
“Actually it is not a hard as I thought, as the time barrier was not breached. I am not quite sure how it happened but if my calculations are correct then you are able to go home when ever you wish.” He watched her face for a reaction but only got the raise of one eyebrow. She nodded once and then approached Minerva, who Albus noted was also hiding whatever she was feeling, and said, “I wish to thank you for taking me in, and was wondering if you would escort me to something that will begin my journey home.” Miranda sighed, this ride home was going to be no fun, when Minerva said, “no need I’ll take you. Please come with me, Albus I will return later.” And at his nod he watched the two women glide out of the classroom.
With a heavy heart, Albus locked and warded Minerva’s classroom and headed for the lake. He needed to think and to do that he needed peace and quiet.
