The fate of the son won't really be revealed in this story. I do have story outlines and plot notes for two sequels, but I'm not sure when/if I'll get to them as RL is giving me a good kick in the ribs and I'm just trying to wrap up my outstanding stories.

Not sure I have anything coherent to add, but I'm reading :D The back and forth timelines/AUs makes me head spin; you've done a good job keeping track of it all. Nice protective Cara at the end, hiding Jennsen away as a maidservant.

Another lovely story :D I like how you always include Cara's feelings about her son - I think that's so important, and it really comes across here, with her plan to make the empire safe for him to rule.

Poor Jennsen - I can't imagine that it'll be easy for her to travel with the gang when Richard, Kahlan and Zedd are all horrified.

"Don't you understand, Jennsen?" she snapped. "You're free of me."

But as Jennsen wept and clung to her, as Richard turned red with frustrated rage, as Zedd's face crumpled with sorrow… Cara realized that Jennsen could not be freed so easily. I really love this - Cara tries to set Jennsen free, but it's not that simple...as always, beautifully done :)

I'm glad you liked the ending. I struggled with it a lot, partly because I started this story without any kind of symbolic message in mind, and apparently I have to have one. <3

It kind of makes me wonder if Tabrett knew the whole time, because when you go back and watch the episodes knowing about her son, a lot of things suddenly make sense. I agree - so many of her choices fit, and it certainly gave her more depth as a character - it's too bad they didn't do more with the Cara's son plotline on the show.

I like the symbolic messages - you don't overemphasize them to the detriment of the story as a whole, and I think it really works :D
