OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

OMG x 100000000000000000000000000000000000

I love this part for expanding on Rahl's motivation for turning against the Keeper.

The first he formed the Rahl Bond with where those who had always doubted his royal blood. Then he killed them and had their heads mounted on the palace gates.

Oh, Rahl. Yeah, that's exactly what he'd do.

RAHL INVADING RICHARD'S DREAMS. LEARNING MORE ABOUT HIM. INFLUENCING THE SEXY DREAMS. A;LFJKDA;FJDAKLJF;LAJFDKLA;JFDKLAFDA AND GUIDING RICHARD IN HIS QUEST. OMGGGGG YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

*goes to the next part*

This is so fascinating. I love the idea that there were rumors that Darken wasn't really a Rahl, because we know that's such a huge part of his identity, but it makes sense as yet another divide between him and his father.

And the idea that Darken can influence Richard's dreams, and all the time Richard thinks it's his Seeker Senses...twisty and perfect.

It's been part of my headcanon for a long time that Darken is hyperaware he doesn't look how a Rahl is 'supposed to.' In my head, he favors his mother except for the Rahl eyes, and his eyes are how she always reassured him that he really was a prince.

Also in my head his mother looks a lot like Kahlan, which is why he tends to be gentler with Kahlan than he could be... of course this also makes his desire for her super creepy, but he's Darken Rahl so whatever >_>

Thanks for the comment bb!

Having spent time in hell, he longed for heaven. Even if it meant earning his place.

It was a dangerous path he walked. A delicate balance. A razor’s edge. He had to both please the Keeper enough that the god would not devote time to torturing him into oblivion, and yet subvert the god’s plans so that he could perhaps attract the attention of the Creator. OMG -YES!!! He so twisted by hate, both by forces that he couldn't conrtol, but later by his own choices, and I know he's being totallly self-serving here - but still YES ( ... )

Time having no meaning in the underworld actually started out as a plot device more than anything. I needed time to pass to make Darken's defection realistic, and to explain how so much time has passed on the surface without doing a 'THREE MONTHS LATER' kind of deal. Then once I went with the idea, it became an integral element of characterization and the story's theme overall.

And yeah, the dream connection was a complete plot device to enable Richard and Darken to interact, but I felt it had basis in canon since Darken visits Richard in his dreams/hallucinations a lot XD

SO GLAD YOU'RE ENJOYING IT! <3 <3 <3 <3
