Alright, it's time for another Pris LotS Episode Live Blog/Recap. This week's episode is Listener.

So of course we open with the Dragon Corp and their prison wagon with Renn inside, and Zedd is saying something about mice leading them to cheese, and man I love Zedd.
Hurr be adult Renn.
I also love Renn. I have so much head canon about adult Renn, you don't even know. Like in my head Simon Woods plays adult Renn, and I sometimes forget there isn't actually an adult Renn episode >_>.
The soldier says Renn has to see in someone's eyes to hear their thoughts, but it doesn't seem to work that way the rest of the episode, so I think it's more of a proximity thing, like Professor Xavier in X-Men.
Renn: Not the way he is. He's hoping the Seeker kills Darken Rahl.
Poor Renn trying to avoid outing the soldier who wants to kill Darken Rahl. It's ok, bb. *Luffs on Renn.*
And lol R/K arguing over saving the boy, following the boy, with Kahlan on the side of strategy and Richard on the side of feelings, which is a nice reversal of the usual trope, and then lol hurr come Trollicus like YOU IDIOTS, I GOT THIS.
And man, I love all the episodes with disguises, especially this one with hunk!Zedd. Yeah I said hunk Zedd. You know he be beastin'.
Also I really love that Zedd says "whom" where appropriate instead of "who". GRAMMARS LIKE A BEAST.
LOL I COMPLETELY FORGOT RENN KICKED RICHARD IN THE NUTS.
And T_T the look on Renn's face as R/K discuss taking him home, like he's just completely bewildered they don't want to keep him and use him for his power.That or he's seeing so much sexual frustration in their heads, he's like "But what, how do you? Does Kahlan keep food between her legs, I don't understand?"
And man, Richard is just so adorable doing the big brother/father thing this whole episode. I really enjoy how Richard is all gung ho about being Daddy!Richard from the get go, but Kahlan is more resistant until later.
Who Renn Could Grow Up To Be
AND OMG RENN PLAYING CARDS AND CHEATING. I think that he probably would have become like a spy or the king of thieves or something if he hadn't been taken to the Sisters of the Light / Dennee.
Renn: You don't want me to tell Kahlan what you think about when you look at her?
LOL IT'S TRUE. Richard's all >_> Pls don't be telling her about that thing with my dick in her face.
And lol omg Renn is such a brat. Just standing there screaming. But you see why he's a brat - it's almost a form of survival for him, and even kids with good parents are bratty sometimes.
And then Richard is hurt and he all slo mo falls, and MY CREYS. I have severe Richard issues this time around. >_>
Renn: The most anybody ever paid for me was three thousand. I'm not worth getting killed over.
Renn: I see why you're doing this, I just don't understand.
RENN. COME TO MY BOSOM, BB.
Also, totally just noticed that Zedd is leaving a trail of flowers for Richard and Kahlan to follow, and he does it again in S2 when Denna kidnaps him. SURPRISE CONTINUITY.
And omg Kahlan. I had completely forgotten that when her father had her and Dennee as kids they were forced to confess people. There may be fic here. I remembered about the bound hands, but not the forced confession.
And man, CH is killing it this episode. Those facial expressions. I'm just. D'aaawwww.
Lol Renn playing match maker. And being an asshole airing everyone's dirty laundry. But he's a really good plot device - a way for things to be revealed about certain characters that they wouldn't admit themselves.
Man this episode is making me really wish Renn had stayed with R/K because I am loving these Daddy!Richard moments where they're talking.
And unnnff so much awesome folk music in this episode. I'd forgotten about the lullaby that Kahlan sings, but now I bet she sang it to Nicholas too in the Reckoning AU, and he was all creepy and like O_O SIng it again, Mother.
And then we have the soldier singing about the Seeker and I just love it. Not only the song, but the whole scene, where he refuses to stop singing. It's just so iconic of the whole struggle against Darken Rahl.
Meh, Renn's stepdad. GTFO.
But how brave of Renn, taking his chance to be the hero, to be like Richard and Kahlan, going with his stepdad so that R/K won't have to fight the men hiding in the woods. And I like how his demeanor changes the instant he's back with the D'Harans. This kid actor does a really good job with the duality of Renn's character - so much older than he should be on one hand, and then such a brat (justifiably) on the other. And man he's so clever, turning all the D'Harans on each other.
Poor Richard, he gets so beat up in this episode. Kicked in the nuts, stabbed in the arm, knocked on his ass. Poor bb.
And omg the look on Zedd's face when Richard hugs Renn, you just know he's thinking about all the time he missed out on with his grandson, and I can't.
And aww the end scene where they're all teaching Renn things before they give him to the Sisters of the Light, and then Richard says they've had practice being parents, MY HEART.
And then hurr come the soldier again, and Zedd says his bird spell only works one time in a thousand, which I guess explains why he doesn't just travel as a bird, and lol at least there's one magic thing Darken Rahl is better at? Can't throw fire, but he's got the bird thing DOWN.
Soldier: Long Life to the Seeker.
He's a Vulcan. Vulcans be all up in this show, what with this and the first appearance of Sister Nicci, who if you didn't know plays a Vulcan in Trek.
You know, now I'm really wondering about an AU where Renn DOES go to Darken Rahl. Would it have turned the tide of the war? How would Darken handle a child who knows him better than he knows himself? It would either be really bloody and end badly, or there would be some really heart rending tea parties with Darken and Egremont where Renn tells them to hug it out.
^Someone who isn't me, do this.
And now I'm all about me some Renn, so I think I'll do Renn for the current art challenge on legendland. Yes. TIS A PLAN.
