Dragon Age Expansion Pack

Mar 14, 2010 12:00

So I just realized that the Dragon Age expansion pack comes out on Tuesday. Forty bucks seems really expensive considering that the base game was fifty dollars. Especially since it's supposed to have what - like 15 hours of new content? Is anyone planning on getting it ( Read more... )

We're supposed to get in on the 22nd. Last week I went on a rampage of book buying (which for me is like 3 books) and added Awakening (though a rampage does not include paying for day-of-release shipping--I'm suddenly realizing that my rampages aren't really all that rampage-y). I don't know that I'll get to it right away though. Mass Effect has finally regained control of my brain and I think it will be reluctant to give it up again.

Same. I was planning on getting it, but then realized I have other money obligations, like bills. Maybe the price will have dropped by the time I'm done with ME2.

The price is quite high nivenus March 14 2010, 19:22:45 UTC
Which means I'm planning to get it either in a few months when it goes down or via some crazy deal.

Course, I'm in no rush. I still haven't beat the original Dragon Age (currently in the Deep Roads) or Mass Effect 2 (just finished Tuchanka) yet. Damn it, BioWare, stop releasing so many good games!

On another note, I understand they're adding 10 levels to game and about 60 abilities, which sounds about standard for a full expansion (MotB for NWN2 added about the same). I imagine that 15 hours is fairly malleable as well, given how variable DA:O's length was for some people (seriously, I've spent 85 hours - according to my save file - on this "30 hour game").

In addition to the other things mentioned here, you're also getting an entirely new origin story and an entirely new cast of party members. I think the original game actually retailed at $59.99 to start and then dropped to $49.99. I don't know if the expansion will do the same, but there is precedent.

I loved origins to a ridiculous extent, had to get awakening. It is good, but if its $40, i'd wait for the price to drop a bit. Although its still gonna give you as much gameplay as most games of that price.

On another, offtopic note, hope you're good pris :) x

I'm doing well. How have you been? It's good to know you're still alive and kicking, lol.

I think I'm probably going to end up getting the expansion pack at some point. My husband really loved Origins; it's one of the few video games he's played lately. Probably once I get bored playing around with ME2.

I'll likely get it eventually, but the price is steep, and I already got ME2 soon after launch. No, I think I'll wait.

I paid for Return to Ostagar and that never showed up for PC...or did it now?

That's pretty much how I feel. I figure by the time I get bored with Mass Effect 2, they'll have dropped the price to something reasonable.

Return to Ostagar did come out on PC about two weeks after xbox. It's fun although short. The best thing to do is to take Loghain and Wynne through it. Much more fun than taking Alistair.
