I'm thoroughly enjoying watching the plot spool out, but just wanted to say how much I liked this

placing his hand on his forehead to prevent him from crashing his pin-cushioned skull into the wall.

Yes. Poor guy, that head must have been hurting like crazy, because it even hurt my eyes to watch him in brain pain - with all the white flashes of light coinciding with his headaches.

Hence, a pin cushion.

I thought this chapter in particular seemed to highlight the fact that Michael is stuck in his roughest prison yet - emotionally, physically, mentally, if that makes sense. Poor guy is reaching the end of his rope. :(

Poor Mike. Glad you liked the backstory, m'dear, we held it off until anger to show this emotion in a range of ways. Originally, he didn't plan on the sickness taking up the first year, so that throws a spanner in his plan
