Swoooooooooooons!!! Wonderful, wonderful fic! I love the image of the glass bowl of strawberries on pale blue sheets and how they spent their Saturday afternoons, guh!

I also really love Alex trying desperately to remember Billy Wilder's name to complete the memory. On the face of it, it's an insignificant detail but it's part of Pam and that's why he so desperately wants to remember it.

but my soul -- nearly broken in two at the center

This line broke my heart... but then the rest of the fic gave me hope and cheered me up again. Thank you!

Thanks! I'm thrilled to see you liked it since it wasn't exactly what your prompt called for.

That man? Spending the afternoon like that ... with THAT man!
I was so week in the knees at the mere thought I could barely type ;o)

I like that too because I really do think that it is his mind not body, losing precious lil details like that would mean losing control, is what Alex knows he needs to survive.

Glad you liked it :)

Oh YUM. I can smell the strawberries, see the icecream. Light and happy, summers days laying on white crisp sheets (strewn and tousled of course!)

Oh... ALEX.

I loved the desperate search for Billy Wilder's name, as if it's the one thing keeping him in touch with that world.

Gorgeous :) Printing this one off too so I can shove it in my - already full - fanfic folder at school.

Also, mind if I recc?

I really do think it would be losing his thought processes not his health or body that would mean the end for Alex so yeah I do think he is the kind to get hung up on a lil detail like that and make himself crazy trying to recall!

Makes for a lovely picture don't you think? I think lil things like that , believing perhaps there were those moments, go a long way to illusrating how and why he is so desperate to have his life back :o)

Guess what... " The Apartment " By Billy Wilder was on cable this morning and all I could think of was young Alex and Pam lying in bed watching it together :o)

Strawberries, ice cream and naked Alex Mahone in bed - you have very good ways to distract girl's mind at work my lovely friend. ;)

Yeaaaaaaaaaaah! Gotta say that set up, image, works well in my head too. Sounds like a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

And makes me think... SILLY MAN... he was pretty clueless telling her to forget he ever exsisted -- as if she could! -- at the end of the season.

I second what the girls have said already. Searching for Wilder's name is great idea to let the reader feel better his state of mind.

You bet! Alex's mind is such a big part of him I could see him falling apart far faster losing his though processes than any bullet!

and WOW!! The Apartment by Billy Wilder was on cable this morning and all I could think of was Pam and Alex snuggled together watching it :)

Ohhhh I loved it but how I couldn't? It's all about Alex and Pam and the sweet mentions of strawberries and ice cream were just pure love - big respect for that. :) And yet this fic is still very sad, full of old, yet very precious memories and hope of survival.
Great job :)

Survival is in my head and not my hands...

Strawberries...

Ice cream....

I agree that this own is all sweet and then sad at the same time.

Its nice to know he has those precious memories is his head and heart but knowing how desperate he is to hold onto them so he doesn't slip away completely is a scary thing to consider.
