Me: Hah, I just read the BEST fake spoiler! Friends: Don't tell us. Me: Sure, but c'mon, there's no way it was real! Such a load of crap. So completely mealy and fanficcy. I bet some goopy kid posted it, passing it off as a spoiler. Friends: Was it written in JKR's style? Me: Nah, it was a load of crap.
*friends buy book* *I flip to last pages*
Epilogue: NINETEEN YEARS LATER. Me: ... you've got to be kidding me.
Dementor's Kiss would have been a spectacular, eerie, appropriate way for something to go, although setting it up would have been difficult -- it would have had to have been Harry or Nagini. Do Dementor's drink? I guess it could have been the Hufflepuff cup.
I, too, was sorely disappointed at the no-Slytherins-stayed.
Instead of living and being emo, for a while I was SO PLEASED that he, of everybody, was finally the normal one with a wife and kid who was going to live and maybe possible be happy for once.
Before and through most of this book, I was all for Neville/Luna. But! I loved Dean grabbing Luna's hand as they leave to fight the final battle. Squee! Interracial-interblood-poster-couple, anybody? Also, waaaay more interesting than Harry/Ginny.
Ooh, Luna/Dean could be excellent! Dean is one of my very favorite minor characters (I was so glad to see more of him in this book--I wasn't expecting to at all). One of the things that I've noticed about him is that he tends to stick up for the misunderstood and the underdog, like Lupin and Hagrid, and I think he could come to understand Luna more than most. I wonder what Luna might see in Dean. ::plot bunnies begin to hop::
Also, Luna has an artist's way of looking at the world, seeing what's normally unseen and not shying away from the unconventional, while Dean is known to have artistic skills. Even if they weren't a romantic pairing, they might still work well as a team.
I tried to find the place where Dean and Luna held hands, and was unable to. Do you happen to know the page number or the chapter title?
Wow, somehow I totally failed to notice that line. Eeeeee, CUTE! All hail the Second Trio of Awesome! Man, now I don't know which Luna pairing I ship more...

And perhaps the red wasn't in a name, but in a character - Fred's hair?

It's US page 604:
"Come on, Luna," Dean called as he passed, holding out his free hand; she took it and followed him back up the stairs.
Awwww!
