Demo Reel, plus the return of Animated Bob!

Mar 02, 2007 01:18

Today I spent 12 1/2 hours in the computer lab, working on my demo reel, broken only by a ten-minute trip across the street to grab a salad at Cosi at 9:30. I am hardcore!

Check it out here! 55mb mov.

Oh my gosh, that looks so amazing! I can't believe anyone I know can actually, like, do that. It's like magic. Loved Bob and the AT-ST :)

Also, um, what was that show you worked on? That green bear.. thing...? Cree-py. And the family dog appears to be a vampire.

Seriously though, super awesomeeee and if I were in charge of hiring people for such things I would definitely hire you.

*snorks* Boz is essentially Barney with a religious message, and you don't know how strictly I had to condition myself to stop myself from making horrible jokes about the skeeviness of the show. It's actually really cute, but when you get down to it, he's a giant green bear that lives next door and has all sorts of adventures with the children, away from their parents' supervision. He also teaches them all about God, which... okay.

Also questionable is the observation that neither of the parents have the same color of red hair as the kids. The parents' hair is more brown, really. Also, the dad has a cleft chin, which is a dominant trait (thank you, House!), and neither of the kids do. And finally, while the grandparents do, the parents don't have wedding rings! Cuuuuurious.

Thanks! Everything I did on my own is rendered in Maya, and I'm fairly sure all the Boz stuff was as well.

As for the male and female figures, yup, I used models! They were originally made in the Digital Figure Modeling class I took last year, and I've since tinkered around with them quite a bit.

My brain went
"Cool cool cool whoa, green net! WTF HIS PENIS IS WAY TOO HIGH UP!!! Cool IT TALKS!!! IT JAW-SYNCHS! Seen this one before (Christmas)... ZOMG THE DETAIL! How cute! The detail! The detail!!!! The colours! Wait, right, she did EVERYTHING in that set! Shibbykeen!"
And I guess that if you analyze this, you can see that our career choices are just right, I should go into sexology and you should make more 3D-ness.

Dude, this is brilliant! I of course showed it to the other guys in my class and they also thought it looks fantastic - you have a great blend of both human/character modeling and props, which is awesome. And you have the organic and the hard edge stuff too! AND realistic and cartoony. You've covered all your bases, I think! So much work you've put into a minute, I'm totally impressed.

I've never seen a demo reel like this, honestly; and now I'm definitely re-thinking the way I need to do mine. Thank you for sharing, this is so awesome.

Man...I wish we were learning Maya, now that I've realized that 80% of the industry deals with Maya...oi.
