Heyya! That's because Jia Heng and Zi Yu are from the ancient times, thus the usage of formal speech! I'm not too sure if you're familiar with Chinese history, but people with the imperial bloodline or the higher officials (ie magistrates) are more educated. Most commoners are not educated, but since we're heavily dependent on Jia Heng (who is the crown prince/emperor), it's supposed to be so. Also, females from the past are more of the household ones, meaning they do not have much say in decisions... Unless you're married and above a certain age. Of course Kris and Tao would speak in the modern way! They are in the urban civilization, after-all!
