This time, Pat was not only hooked up to IVs, but also oxygen and a heart monitor. The time he was out after he fainted had then concerned there might be a relapse of the brain hemorrhage he had before he was diagnosed with the MS. It wasn't that he didn't react, he was just too tired to really know what he should think at seeing his boyfriend for the first time in days... especially since the last time they spoke, Aiden was furious. He frowned a little. "Did you fly here or something?" he asked quietly. "You must've driven at top speed."
"Sort of," Aiden admitted sheepishly, coming to sit down at Pat's bedside. He placed the flowers on the bed beside Pat's legs. "Actually, I was already in Princeton when I got Lachlan's voicemail, love."
He sighed softly, looking over his boyfriend with a deep concern. "How are you feeling? What happened? Do you remember?" He took Pat's hand and carefully kissed his wrist away from the IV line.
"You were already here?" Pat asked in confusion, no entirely sure he heard Aiden correctly. He closed his eyes momentarily and gave a small shake of his head. "Not feeling so great, darling. I just remember starting to feel really sick and hot, woozy like the room was starting to spin, then the next thing I knew I was waking up with Lachie kneeling over me calling my name. It's too early to know anything yet. They've done some tests, as usual."
He watched Aiden's face. "We need to talk about what happened. It felt like you were gone for weeks, not days. Lucky I could help Lachie and Tara with Riley or I would've gone crazy."
"I was," Aiden confirmed with a nod. "And I'm not going anywhere now that I'm here. We can talk if you want to, but only if you're up to it. I want to say something first, though, love. Okay? I was a bastard and hearing you kissed Riley just came as a complete shock to me. I was hurt because Riley was here for you and I wasn't. I just didn't know how to deal with that and I reacted like an idiot. But I've done a lot of thinking and that's why I was in Princeton..."
He took an envelope from his pocket and handed it to Pat. Inside were some glossy real estate pictures of a house in Princeton, two streets over from Tara and Lachlan's house. "I was here because I was viewing this."
