Hey everyone! I have one new inquiry and one old discussion topic that I never got around to posting, so get ready for a double whammy
( Read more... )
Polovtsian Dances would have been played in episode 2, when Ebine is serving up all her cold dishes to Ahiru and Mytho. It's also in the Tutu official OST, on the 1st disc. =D
I had checked episode 3, but the more I think about it, the more I think I might have just been comparing it to the full version of the song from the OST. Thanks though!
...Oh yeah derp, episode 3 I mean. XD;;;; They included the entire song in the OST while they only used a small portion of it in the series, so that's pretty likely.
I believe it played in Akt 3 while Ebine was making all the food. But the Spot the Reference guides are really useful for that kind of thing: List 1, List 2
I'd seen something about it being in episode 3, but I was wondering if it was anywhere else further on in the series also because I couldn't shake the feeling that it was later on. I could be totally wrong there though, and as I told Tomoyo, it is entirely likely that I was mentally comparing it to the full version of the song. Thanks for the links, I may well browse them.
1) That's a really interesting thought, and I might have to add that to my headcanon for the show. Are you thinking of that along the lines of Siegfried was taken out of the real world and put into a story? That would be very interesting. Someone should write about that!
2) And I see people have answered this question already. I played a version of DDR that had that song in it. It's a really great song.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Drosselmeyer is a pretty vengeful guy, and what better way to get back at the kingdom that revolted against him after asking things of him by forcing Gold Crown into a world of stories and making the prince of the kingdom the main character? Especially as it was the last story Drosselmeyer wrote that he never finished.
As another thought, Ahiru, Rue, and Fakir are taken from outside the story, so it isn't farfetched that the Prince could have had other origins as well.
Certainly worth a fic or two... but as the openings tend to be allegorical rather than straightforward summaries, I personally will probably stick to the canon that Siegfried began as Drosselmeyer's character. I like to get hung up on details, like Prince Siegfried being quite fantastically medieval, Drosselmeyer and Goldcrown Town being early- 20th century, and the action being in the modern era.
Pfft, no, I don't really write fanfic, it's just a fun idea! And yeah, I don't really think it has a canon basis, but given the fact that you don't really get much about Drosselmeyer's backstory other than from a few offhand comments and the openings, it's interesting to wonder how much truth there is in the ones relating to him.
i really like that idea you proposed : D i've always wanted to know more about Drosselmeyer. he's a pretty interesting character, and one i feel like we know so little about with the exception of what the "bookmen" and Autor tell us about him (which, in all honestly, isn't much beyond what he is at face value). It'd be really awesome too if Itoh had that idea in mind
Seriously, where is the Dross love? It'd be awesome to find out more about him and how things were before/during when the Prince and the Raven came to be. And given the thought they put into the series it isn't too out there.

But if you write it, I'd like to read it.
