You know, I think that more and more people are becoming addictive to star worshiping. I think that our society leaves a big hole for people somehow, and they're filling it with unhealthy obsessions and addictions. Granted, I spend a lot of time in various fandoms, but I never think that I personally own these people or that I'm entitled to have them in some way. The psychology of this kind of thing fascinates me.
Anywho, Sarah... a student of mine went to the Columbus show and recorded sound clips on her phone. She's an Archie fan, but she did have Billie Jean from DC, and he sounded amazing.

It really upset me, more than I thought it ever would, because I find I really do care, and one of our primary fears was that David would go from bright, honest and willing-to-share to this jaded cynic who is sure that a lot of people are out to get him. And I know the man is smart, I know he's not going to punish ALL of us for some fools, but the fact is, things like this will change the open person he is now to someone closed off. It's going to change him, and I don't want him to become another jaded musician.
I guess the JG saying on the boards would not be remiss here: Respect the man, respect the music. This goes for all of them.
