Due to the fact dreamwidth was lovely and passed out invite codes to anyone who'd verified an email for an OpenID account, and I'd done that to keep tabs on anyone I know who had been picking up DW accounts, I now have a DW account! Anyone who has once, feel free to friend me, as I know I missed posts. So far, DW looks to have some unique appeal ( Read more... )

They didn't give me one. I registered my OpenID account and verified my email like 3 weeks ago and never got a thing. I got my account tonight by shelling out $13 for 6 months. :-/

Really? Did you just pay for it within the last few hours? My invite showed up less than two hours ago, but for a free account, and their news post mentioned that they were going to be passing out invites to various groups (including anyone who'd registered for their mailing list, but that would take longer).

I did pay for it earlier in the evening. I knew a number of people who'd gotten invite codes from registering their open IDs/emails over the past few weeks but I never got a thing other than emails reminding me they were opening on April 30th etc. I paid for the account because I didn't want to lose my screen name like I did at IJ (and had to wait over a year before it was purged so I could reclaim it.)

OpenID only allows you to make comments, not post like a journal. However, if you've validated your email (which you should) you may get sent an invite code, at which time you can make an actual free account and then hold on to your OpenID because you'll need it if you ever want to manage comments linked to it.

I've added your OpenId for now!
