Another update? So soon? I must be on a role!
Part the seventh ( i )
"Ville! Get down here now!" I was rudely awoken by my aunt's screeches. I sat up and glanced at the clock. I groaned in frustration when I saw that it was only 6:30. What on earth could she want at this ungodly hour? On a Sunday?
"Ville Valo, now!" I hastily jumped out of bed and pulled a shirt on over my sweat pants before jogging down the stairs. I found my aunt in the kitchen, tapping her foot impatiently.
"Yes aunt Jacki?" I tried to sound polite to avoid any arguments.
"Your uncle and I are going on another business trip, we're leaving in five minutes. We'll be back some time on Wednesday," She answered me curtly, then turned to leave.
"Wait, that's it?" I asked, stunned. She whirled around to face me, eyes glinting in warning of what was to come.
"Is what it?" She pronounced each word carefully. I knew she was angry because I'd spoken up, but I was tired, cranky and worried as hell about my situation with Bam. It made me speak without really thinking first.
"You seriously got me out of bed just to tell me that? You couldn't have left a note?"
"Well if you weren't such a lazy little lay-about I wouldn't have to wake you!" She snapped instantly. I think she'd been saving that one up for a while.
"Well I'm sorry if we can't all be as ridiculously anal, sorry - 'efficient', as you. Some of us like to actually sleep in on Sundays. And just for the record, I do most the of Goddamn housework around here, so quit calling me lazy, you old hag!" I'd barely gotten the words out before she slapped me. It echoed in the kitchen, sounding not unlike a gunshot. I felt a stinging sensation set in and held my hand over my abused cheek as I watched my aunt with wary eyes.
"It's about time you learned some respect, boy! There'll be more where that came from if you're not very careful!" She hissed before click-clacking out of there on her high heels. I cursed under my breath as I stomped up the stairs. I paused at the top, listening for the garage door which would signal their departure. As soon as I heard it I started cursing out loud.
"Fuckin stupid bitch. How dare she? She's not my fucking mother. I'm 17 for Christ's sake! How fuckin dare she?!" I continued in the same vein as I went into the bathroom and put a cold wash cloth on my face. I sat there for what seemed like a long time, lost in my thoughts. I had so many things going through my head at the same time that I didn't hear the knocking on my front door. I jumped when I heard the door open, startled out of my musings at the prospect of an intruder. I put the wash cloth down and stood up, creeping cautiously toward the top of the stairs. I was glancing around for a suitable weapon when I heard a husky voice call up the stairs.
"Hello? Ville are you home?" Realising it must be someone I knew, I stopped looking for a weapon and instead stood at the top of the stairs. I came upon the sight of a rather unkempt looking blonde kid. He glanced up at me and I came down the stairs slowly, wondering what on earth Ryan Dunn was doing standing in the entry-way of my house.
"Ville. Hi. Sorry for just barging in like this but the door was unlocked," he was twisting his hands as he spoke, obviously uncomfortable. I just shrugged, equally as uncomfortable.
"Look, I know we're not exactly friends," I snorted and he glanced at me.
"That's an understatement," I said, referring to the way his entire group of friends had treated me. They had never used violence, not like some others, but Bam had to get his name-calling habit from somewhere.
"I know. But I'm willing to set it all aside for Bam. That's why I'm here, actually. Bam, he's... I think you should come with me," Ryan seemed to have trouble getting full sentences out and the worry in his voice had me tense.
"Why? What's happened to him? Is he hurt?" I asked, needing answers and now.
"No... not physically at least. But he's... he's in a bad way, Ville. I don't really understand it, but I think you're the only one that can help him," Ryan's voice tremored and then cracked on the last bit, he was visibly upset. This in itself was cause enough to make me worried.
"Okay, I'll come. Just let me run upstairs and get changed," I said. Ryan simply nodded and I quickly ran upstairs to my bedroom. I hasitly yanked on the first few items of clothing I pulled out of my closet and then ran into the bathroom to quickly scrub my teeth. Rather than take the time to tame my hair I simply pulled on a black beanie to cover it up. I ran back down the stairs and landed with a thump next to Bam's other best friend.
"Wow, that was quick!" He exclaimed. I shrugged.
"Yeah. Now take me to Bam. Is he at his house?" I asked.
"No, he's at mine. I didn't want Ape and Phil to see him like this and my parents are away, so..." Ryan trailed off and then headed out the door, obviously expecting me to follow. I did, locking the door behind me. As we walked down the road I huddled into my hoodie, wondering what the hell was going on with Bam and pretty sure that whatever it was was all my fault.
