Don't explain to the reader what roleplaying games are about, explain to them (purely for example ;) ) what Runequest is about. Somebody picks up the book he isn't there to learn about and play roleplaying games, he's there to learn about and play Runequest. Deal with the game you're writing for, the reader can always learn of the commonality of the advice should he learn of and from other RPGs.
