Well, all of the shows James mentioned Friday were already sold out for the weekend by Saturday morning, because of how good they no doubt were. So, nothing daunted, we went to the Tate Britain, bypassed their "Turner Whistler Monet" exhibit and merely drank in a few small glories of the permanent collection, notably Blake and Turner, to say ( Read more... )

You chose to bypass Whistler? I am saddened and disappointed, sir. I was going to hope that you'd at least ended up in the area of Waterhouse and Orchardson, when I clicked on your "minor works" link and breathed a great sigh of relief. That's an excellent piece, there, which I will not name so that readers must click, and see, to know.

Regardless, I'm giddy to finally know what people are talking about when they talk about London locations. We did the Tate Britain in a whirlwind tour on our last day, just before getting on the plane, because we'd misplaced it (and slept so close to the Tate Modern that we spent precious TB time there, instead). So I guess I'll have to go back just to give the Tate Britain its proper time.

See "already sold out for the weekend," above. Given the full-throated glory that is the Tate Britain's standard collection, seeing even this show would have merely been gilding the lily, unless they've moved "The Fighting Temeraire" over from the National Gallery.

Nobu, wasn't that where the last Iron Chef Japan used to work?

P.S. I confirmed that myself. Nobu is, indeed, where Masaharu Morimoto used to work. I can't help but wonder just how much the collective intelligence would increase were we constantly interfaced with Google.

I have to give you kudos, sir, for Infinite Worlds; although I already had TT and the two AE volumes, it was nice to see it all in one place and glitzed up for GURPS 4E. And as always (for me, at any rate), your bibliography doubled the enjoyment value I got out of IW; if more GURPS authors put in bibliographies or annotations (see, ST1 & ST2) with that much detail and commentary, I don't think I'd buy anything other than GURPS books...
