Anyone have ideas for something I can do with plums except dry them in my dehydrator? I wonder if they can be mashed up and made into something frozen or...something... They're such good plums I hate to waste them ( Read more... )

Jam is all I can think of. Or freezing them whole like this lady and then using them for baking later - http://ihearthemall.blogspot.ca/2010/05/freezing-plums.html

I like the idea of just freezing them whole - what a fine notion, that way it would be likkity-split to make a pie with them later, just dump it in and seal the crust. Mine are probably too big for a pitter, but I could do halves easily enough. Thanks!

Strangely enough, I never have - you think that would be a no-brainer, I do enough apple pies. I've done cobbler, but pie would be better, especially if the plums were soaked in something tasty first.

I'm sure my Mum once made Plum Crumble (she doesn't do pies, because pastry). But mainly I'd have said jam and I assume that's so obvious if that was a sensible option you wouldn't be asking. (Plum jam is v nice, though. You can send me a virtual jar if you make some! ;-p)

Yeah, my family can only eat so much jam - I still have a box full of plum jam downstairs from the last time I did that three years ago... They go through the apple butter and blackberry jam pretty well but the plum isn't as popular.

Aw, I would eat your plum jam and not the blackberry! Fl;oat the box across the ocean and let's see if I get it... :-)
