Libraries & Gardens

I really don't know quite what to do - I feel like I know all of you so much better because of your LJ entires, but then I'm always lurking instead of posting myself which feels a tad unfair. And yet I have a hard enough time keeping up with what I need to care for online that I also find I have little time to just 'play and socialize, or write ( Read more... )

(((Prim))). I am glad you are loving your house! I bet your library is wonderful! I love your "LOTR Shrine."

It's much smaller than my 'old' one - I'm sure it will grow as I unpack boxes. :-D

Its so exciting to settle into a new space, especially when that space gives you some breathing room, like your new home does. So many things yet to discover! Congratulations yet again.

And a greenhouse! I admire those, too! You can have greens for salads al year long and herbs for cooking snapped fresh off the twig and you can even rebloom your orchids! Enjoy!

So far it is only sheltering my three little plants from any frost that might come along - your words inspire me to spend money this spring on little things that will get bigger - maybe even a fuschia basket, something I've never splurged on because I hated spending so much on something that died as soon as it got cold.

Don't beat yourself up, dear. It is hard to choose where to focus yourself, when there are so many delicious places to be. It is good to hear how much you love your home, and to know the excitement you feel in the mystery of your garden!

I feel sometimes that I should contribute more, give a more explicit personal profile of myself to flesh out the picture, but I find myself a less fastinating subject to write about... I prefer hobbits and elves! *chuckle*

So I have placated myself with the following mantra:
"Write it, and they will come (to read)..."

Gee, Loth, I seem to remember a certain Dark Elf who stated she was going to use her journal for self-discovery...and has barely written anything about herself since...hmmmm. But everyone uses their journals differently; s ome of us effusive types spill their guts daily, others pick and choose what to say, and some express themselves through their fiction writing. It all works. But I would love to know more of you.

I am amazed that you keep up with anything let alone writing here. You have so much on your plate. You are a wonderful mod. I am so glad to get to know you better through your writings. Kids are wonderful are they not? My are all grown now, but sometimes I wish that they were still little and others times I am so happy that they are grown. But they bring so much joy into your life. I am so happy that you love your new home. Right now my library is full of school books. It is hard to choose between diamonds and emeralds. But you do such a wonderful job.

Aw, thanks (((FG))) - There are days I remember to appreciate the kids, and other days I just wish they would grow up..... I still have a lot of my old school books from college - I kept the all the literature ones for the works they had within them. :-)

All right... I've faded back to rosy pink from envious green over your library...thats my dream, too. Actually, its to have, as Virginia Woolf said so succinctly, " a room of my own." And in this room will be the bookshelves I need to contain my ever-growing collection of books. I've pretty much pared down my Ringer memorabilia to mini mates and bobble heads ( love those =), but I want a place to put them all together. I'm so glad you finally got in, Prim, and settled; moving in, on top of everything else, must have been so crazy!

It makes it sound romantic calling it a "Library" doesn't it? Sounds like it would have big, sunny windows and shelves allllll the way up, like in Beauty and the Beast. In reality, it's only a finished basement room with two little windows... but I am making it as cozy as I can. My house has always had books all over every flat surface, heaped around the insufficient little bookcases, etc. - it will be a treat to get them up off the floor. I hope one day you will also have your room of your very own, dear (((((NS)))))

I am seriously looking forward to the day Tristan moves out. Not that I wont' miss him of course, but I can't wait to take his room and turn it into something. Not sure what yet. Mark and I will probably have to arm wrestle over whether it becomes his office or my craft room. I'd love to have a place to keep all my craftin/scrapbooking supplies out and ready to use on whim. Right now they clutter up our dining room.

I'll probably win in the end because I know how to cry on command and can get anything I want usually. (just kidding)

Just don't let Tristan catch measuring his room for new carpet and drapes just yet...he might catch on and decide to never leave, just to drive you nuts!
