The word "harpy", it's Greek--it comes from a word I can't quite recall, harpa-something, I think, but it means "to snatch", and that's where "harpy" comes from: it means "that which snatches". Which I suppose means they're scavengers of a sort, and rather a bit like vultures in their own way

I think that would depend on the gods, really. The usual deities may not be inclined to leave their offices, but I've met the ones that outrank them before.

Hmmm, I don't recognize that name from the Pantheon.

They seem to be part of the one from this world, at least. Though I'd never heard of them before I came here, either.

Sounds like a wonderful pair.

I don't know if I'd call them friendly, exactly. But they're the only ones I've ever met that have seemed to care about our well-being, instead of merely seeing us as tools or means to an end.

I don't know. Perhaps that's who I keep expecting to come, just the same.

It would be nice if someone in charge would actually do something to help us.

They don't seem very inclined to, do they? It's strange. They haven't even been very talkative throughout all this, either.

No they haven't. Not that they get involved in anything that isn't for their own amusement.

Or a threat to their power, I suppose.
