Hmmm. Is #1 something you should want to do?

Well, it's...it's not that I want to stop missing them, exactly. It's just that I think there's a difference between missing and remembering them fondly and missing them so much that I'm always sad about it, and I'd like to learn to do the former rather than the latter. I know they wouldn't want me to be sad, and certainly not if it turns into all I can think about, so much so that I can't be happy with the friends I still do have since I'm so busy missing the ones that I don't.

FANCY MEETING YOU HERE primrosella December 29 2010, 22:13:47 UTC
Oh, of course, if you like! I don't mind sharing my resolutions, if you think you'd like to borrow some of them as well.

CHILLIN' LIKE A VILLAIN, OBVIOUSLY. primrosella December 29 2010, 22:20:08 UTC
That one's a bit silly, I know. My friend Penny always used to insist that turning twenty wouldn't make me a spinster, but just the same, it's a difficult thought to let go of, so I thought I'd make it a resolution. I've done rather well at keeping those, over the years.

I'm sorry you've lost friends of yours, though. I think this was a bit of a bad year for that sort of thing, really.

I won't go easy on you, you know.

I should certainly hope not. It'd rather defeat the purpose of the resolution if you did, wouldn't it?

Good. Because although it's admirable to make a resolution like that, I would hope you wouldn't think of it as an excuse for me to take it easy.

Goodness, no. And it certainly wasn't a hint for you to do so, either.

...Of course, if it does happen that I end up beating you because of some handicap or another, that doesn't mean I won't count it as a victory anyway. You just don't need to go out of your way to give me one, that's all.

You're fretting about - Getting a jumpstart on resolutions is probably better than putting it off until New Years actually rolls around. Maybe that makes you less likely to give up on them two months into the year.

Is February really the proper time to give them up, then? I keep hearing that two months seems to be the number to follow.

I don't think there's necessarily a set date. It's just that people usually start losing steam around that point in time.

Oh, I see. How odd! It really doesn't seem so difficult to keep resolutions, after all.
