It's just lovely to see you all again! I do hope you all managed to dress warmly before coming here, since it's the winter season now. Or, well--it is for us, anyway, ( Read more... )

Well met, Princess Rosella. Have you found a use for my crystal?

Nasty, ogres. Goblins are half and half again as harmless and twice as malodorous, at the very least.

Yes, and quite fast, too. They're terribly hard to outrun, I'm afraid. But I'm glad to hear that goblins are more harmless than ogres, certainly. I don't think it'd be very nice at all to be king of them, if they were really terribly dreadful.

You've had to run from an ogre? [said with more disgust than concern]

They're dreadful in any number of ways--no manners, no sense of decorum, and not so much as a clever thought among them. [dramatic sigh] What I wouldn't give for a single person who could hold a conversation...

I'm afraid so, yes. I was, er...stealing something from him, and he woke up as I was getting away, and he chased me right out the door and into a forest. It gave me a terrible fright.

[And alas, she is a sucker for that dramatic sigh.]

Oh, dear, you don't have anyone to talk to? Not in your whole kingdom?

You survived, I take it? But of course you did. The ogres I've met weren't clever at all... no match for a girl of your intelligence.

[If he was there in person, would she be a sucker for the pants? They're nice pants. It's undeniable.]

Not a single solitary soul, dear girl. The goblins are halfwits and the fairies would rather bite than chat. It's a terrible thing, leaving the kingdom unsupervised, but you can see why it is, on occasion, necessary.

I was lucky enough to have a head start, yes. And I managed it, but it's certainly not something I'd ever care to do, again.

[The pants are hard to deny, it is true.]

Oh, dear, yes, I do see. That must be just awful--and terribly lonely, too.

Are ogres common in the woods here?

Terribly. I'm a dreadful person, Princess Rosella, but if I didn't whisk away a mortal or two into my realm every so often, I would go absolutely mad.
