Are onions scary?

Pardon? No, I don't think so. Or at least, no more than any other vegetable, anyway.

Then I'm confused about the burying them because you didn't want to see them.

Oh, that. No, it's not that they're scary, it's that they make you cry. Back when the deities demanded that we cause someone we care about to cry, my best friend tricked me into it by having me slice onions until I did. And then once I figured out what he'd done, neither of us really wanted to eat the onions anymore, so we went out and buried them, instead.

It is terrible, Miss Rosella. To use innocent people in such a way-- And the flyers truly make it all the more so. These 'deities' have no right to play with peoples' lives in such a way...

[a sigh, a cough, and the anger melts back into mild-mannered Riff]

...I admit, after all of this, I am looking forward to your dinner, Miss Rosella. My lord informed me about it. Thank you very kindly for the invitation.

One grows to expect it after a while, I'm afraid. But I daresay I'll never get used to it, or stop being furious about it, either.

But of course, we'll be glad to have you, Riff. What do you like best to eat? I'll do my best to make sure we have some for you.

I agree completely.

Ah- Anything Miss Rosella makes will be wonderful, thank you.

Trying to take her over already, Miss Rosella?

Who'd have thought that under that kind exterior was hiding a perfectly strict dominatrix?

You probably have a whip too, don't you.

I'm just glad that it's done and everyone seems to be okay now. Maybe I should make some lemon pies just in case this is like the hair thing...

How're you doing, Rosella?

It does seem to add up the same as the other did, doesn't it? I don't know. I just think we'd better be on our guard for a little while, just to be safe.

I'm all right, Penny. And thank you again for bringing me that package on the train--I was just at my wit's end without all my things, and it was wonderful to have them again.

The deities taking things that aren't theirs... yep. Or maybe the blood is rightfully theirs. At least--you know, with people like me who wouldn't be alive without the City. It'd make more sense if the only people who'd died were already dead. Not that it would've made it right, but this whole thing is so twisted.

It wasn't a problem, I promise. Is it nice to be back in the library hunting down books?

Even if it is, it's still a terrible thought. And I still think they're going to get themselves into trouble for it, whatever it is they're up to.

Oh, yes, very much so! I'm looking for one in particular today, so it's something of an adventure, trying to find the proper way to track it down.

If you'd for a moment thought of canceling your Thanksgiving dinner, I would have had to take it over, you know.

Has Miss Penny agreed to be our judge?

Oh, I wouldn't dream of canceling it. If anything, all this trouble has just made me more determined to make it a perfectly lovely one.

She has! And I hear Riff and Merry are quite excited about the whole business, as well.

That's rather the attitude I would take in regards to it. I'm very much looking forward to it.

Splendid. And, yes, they are. We've had any number of complex discussions about the merits of various pies.

Have you, now? Riff seems quite confident in your victory, too. He was terribly polite about telling me he doesn't think I stand a chance, you know.
