I can't get them off, and I'd rather not lose my feet trying. It just has to hold until midnight. Work until midnight.

Well--fine now, anyway. I wasn't fine for the better part of the day, but--this is a much better arrangement, yes.

'Arrangement'? I've gathered that you put on those red shoes, at least. I can't imagine you've managed to stop doing whatever it is they're making you do--I've gathered that much about them too.

For once I'm glad I prefer my usual black ones and wouldn't be seen in bright red shoes.

It was an accident. They were in my closet and I wasn't paying attention to which red shoes they were, just that they were red ones to go with my dress.

But I can't very well dance if my feet aren't touching the ground. I'm still moving a bit, but it's much easier to...well. I don't get so tired this way, at least.

Rue! I'm all right, don't worry. Or, well, as all right as I can be, under the circumstances. My feet aren't touching the ground anymore, so it doesn't hurt nearly so much to dance.

And it can't come soon enough. I might've stopped dancing, but I haven't stopped moving. I'm really quite exhausted, to be honest.

I'm all right! I'm fine, really--or as fine as I can be, considering. I'm off the ground now, at least, so it's much less trouble, all the dancing.

I've been dancing all day. I put those shoes on by accident and then suddenly I couldn't stop...
