Y'know, I did NOT need to read this:

Tornado probably struck near Stratford.

Please tell me that it doesn't get worse in July. Eep?

Ohgreateek. I'm looking out the window now at a black line of thunderstorms headed our way. They've been promised for weeks, but haven't delivered, and now it looks like they've just been saving themselves up to be crazy.

Gotta run and move my veggie pots back up under the eaves, in the hopes of sparing them damage.

It's been raining here all day, but I haven't heard any thunder. I love thunderstorms, which is sort of irrational because they're sometimes the parents of tornadoes.

It happens, but it is fairly rare. Thunderstorms should be the worst you will encounter while there.

Thunderstorms I can do. I like thunderstorms. Some of my fondest, earliest memories are of sitting outside with songdog and our stepdad (on a boat he had drydocked in the back yard, no less) watching the squall lines go by. He was an amateur meteorologist, so we learned terms like dewpoint and isobars when we were just itty.

Tornadoes, however, I can definitely do without. We have a bad history. I've never been around one, but songdog and I used to have dreams about them. Like, the same dreams. It was freaky, I tell ya. We used to go hide in the cellar (cellar = unfinished basement) if the forecast even called for a chance of one. songdog, being older, was resourceful about it. She brought food in case we were there for the long haul.

Sheesh I live in Southern Ontario and this is all news to me. I knew there was some impressive lightning last night, but that's it. Oh, and a huge block of concrete was blown off the 60th floor of a building right in our financial district. I think. I'm too sick to remember these things right now.

Whenever I go to Stratford to coach tournaments, tornadoes are always the last thing on my mind. (In Chatham, however, closer to Windsor, they're near the top. Funny how we'll be in Chatham July 13-14-15).

It's like that rare earthquake recently in the UK. Someone I know is there now and he said "Oh god, I hate earthquakes." I smiled.

It's funny how I never think, hmm, Canada = Tornadoes. Liek, maybe they don't make it through border control or something.
