I love this guy so much.

"Chafee said he has not decided what to do after leaving office, but he hoped to stay involved in public life. He said his loss may have helped the country by switching control of Congress." &hearts&hearts&hearts&hearts&hearts&hearts&hearts&hearts&heartsHere's to you, Mr. Chafee, and thanks for everything. I think he would go Independent, if anything. The fact that he's stayed Republican is more about family tradition than any party loyalty. His independent thinking is the embodiment of the RI spirit, which is what founded the state in the first place (the guy on the top of the State House is the Independent Man, after all. *g*)

I think he's going to have to leave the party, anyway, if he wants to run for office again, especially after saying what he did about the Senate. I admire him for it, but he's not going to win points with the Republicans for it. It looks like he's pretty much made up his mind to leave, but isn't sure what comes next. Me, I'll support him no matter what his decision is. I always have. *loves*

Did I just dream that I heard on NBC Nightly News that Chafee might be being considered as a replacement for John Bolton as Ambassador to the U.N.? Because I remember stopping, looking up, and saying, "Chafee? primroseburrows lurves Chafee! Surely he would be better than Bolton! Let this be real!"

On the other hand, I've been so obsessively following all the political news of late that it has started invading my dreams, so it really is possible that I just dreamed it.

See, this is how internet rumors get started. People hear things, but not whole things, and then their sleeping brains fill in the blanks with other, untrue things.

But still! YAYE! Thanks, Mr. Chafee! ♥

I did totally think of you when I saw the RI results on election night. I rejoiced less for the Democratic victory in RI than any other victory, because I knew a good representative incumbent was losing his spot.
