I came to LiveJournal this morning to write about the election, and the aftermath, and my own musings on the future of our country. And I still intend to do that

You know, last spring, Mike and I were planning to take a trip to DC next March, and you were on our list of highlights. That's been a little upended, but seriously, I agree. I would love to connive something to see you

I know what you mean about the status updates! It seems if I can consolidate the whole story or highlight of my day into one sentence, a blog entry feels pointless unless it is particularly inspired. And when that inspiration hits and you finally do make the effort to write out the whole blog, only to realize that it doesn't even seem to get the same amount of the attention as a simple status update...that can feel pretty discouraging. (If you want to diagram that sentence for me, I have this feeling it might have been a run on... :D)
Good luck and keep writing for yourself. You never know who might stumble upon your brilliance.
I agree. People read statuses; they don't read blog posts. I'm not sure what that says about us and our attention spans. But someone has to keep writing. It might as well be you and me.
Well, if it helps, I still read your posts...albeit it might be a bit later.
Facebook has helped with staying in contact with friends, but it feels very impersonal to me. There are so many things that I want to talk about it, but I simply can't do it to my 300 best friends or whatever. My new blog feels impersonal to me. LJ is still the only place where I feel like I can really say what's going on where I have friends that will listen. I have been realizing that I really have no friends in Fargo, so the only time I can talk to people is by calling or visiting. I need the writing to clear my head, though. So I'm going to keep writing here, even if no one reads.
