Shouldn't this be my dream come true: the ability to carry 16GB of books on my phone? To have not just a book but a whole library at my fingertips? To be able to pull out a book anywhere I have my phone? To not have to lug around a book everywhere I go and wait? To not have to buy purses based on whether they hold my current read or not (and ( Read more... )

I feel the same way, at least with a screen as small as the iphone's. The only books I've read have been fluffy. I wonder if it would be differen on an actual ereader.

Giles: The smell.
Ms Calendar: Computers don't smell, Rupert.
Giles: I know. Smell is the most powerful trigger to the memory there is. A certain flower or a whiff of smoke can bring up experiences long forgotten. Books smell. Musty and, and, and, and rich. The knowledge gained from a computer, is, it ... it has no texture, no context. It's there and then it's gone. If it's to last, then the getting of knowledge should be tangible, it should be, um... smelly.
