They do do female characters pretty well, I agree! (I actually love Abby enough that I channelled her the other day in buying a shirt/doing my hair. *g* Unfortunately, I'm not blonde!)
Only slight related: Joss Whedon and his Buffy series, etc, is always held up as being the Really Good Female Characters shows - which is true, to an extent. But one thing alwaysalwaysalways bugs me about his stuff (or at least Buffy): those high heeled boots or shoes? Not. Practical. I don't care if she's a Slayer, you try running & jumping around in those things! Primeval is nicely sensible about the shoes.
And when it's not sensible about the shoes (like early Jenny), it makes the point that the shoes are not sensible at least until the shoes become eminently sensible in terms of shooing Scutosaurii (Scutosauruses?) ::g::
Those shots were taken between Series 1 and 2, I believe. In which case, it's Claudia-Jenny ::g::
(I think they were originally supposed to be Claudia, but Lucy's already started to grow her fringe out in preparation for Jenny in series 2. It's not quite as grown out as Jenny's was, so we'll call it a hybrid of the two ::g::)
