August Challenge: Beginnings
First of all, I want to give a great big thanks to all of you guys! The response to the prompt post was unexpectedly numerous, and I'm glad to see so many people taking an interest in getting material going for this comm!
That said, we the MOD team have been discussing a few fun things that we could do to try and keep the comm active and the OPSS fun times coming! This month, the challenge will be prompts that were written by you and the MOD team with the overall theme of Beginnings to commemorate our first big and hopefully successful contest. We want to keep it as light and fun as possible for everyone.
The rules will be as follows. Everyone will be posting anonymously! Submissions can be sent to the MOD team via Swagincab@gmail.com. For those who would rather take a different approach- comments for this post will be screened if you'd like to submit ficlets or art through here, and everything will be submitted in format to the comm by the MOD team. This will, I hope, keep everything as clean and fair as possible when voting time comes around. Please, no secret posts or behind the scenes shout outs to get everyone to vote for your work. Let's have fun and let the work speak for itself!
Submissions are due on August 30th. I know August is a busy month for lots of people. Hopefully this will give everyone the time they need to submit if they'd like to do so. Please e-mail the above address or submit to the screened comments with the following format:

There is also no limitations on how many fics or pieces of art you submit. Prompts will not be claimed. Everyone is free to write/draw on any of the prompts, and if you do submit multiple works, they'll be submitted separately to keep in line with the anonymity of the contest. There isn't a word count limit, but try to keep the contest in mind when formulating your responses. Heck, if you get the idea for a great huge fic and want to continue it after the contest, I'm fairly certain that no one here will mind if you keep posting new chapters! I know I won't
Prizes will be custom content! This will include choices for prompted ficlet, icons or sketches from members of the MOD team that will be determined based on the amount of participation. I.E. The prizes will be larger if there are 10 submissions than if there are just 3. There will be the possibility of other prizes, too, that will be a surprise discussed between the MOD crew! Everyone likes good surprises, right?
Finally, the prompts! As said before, submitting can be done for multiple prompts. If you see something you like, feel free to make something for it! We're all ready and waiting to enjoy it! Also to note, continuity should be taken more as guidelines than outright law. If you see a prompt that you enjoy but want to write it within a different continuity or a mixed continuity, then do so. Additionally, if you have ideas for the overall theme, which is beginnings if it hasn't been said enough, you can also create for that outside of the prompts. The prompts are as much for ideas and help as they are guidelines.
Also! If you have questions about details on the prompts or need more information for continuities (some of these are pretty specific to newer canon), your comments will be unscreened and replied to either by MODs or hopefully by those keeping an eye on the topic to help you out!
1. AU: What if Starscream had been the Lord High Protector to Optimus Prime?
2. Shattered Glass, Prime's first request for Starscream to join his cause being handled with seduction before Prime reveals his true colors.
3. Movieverse: For the sake of the hatchlings.
4. Pre-war IDW - Capt. Optimus is troubled and intrigued by Starscream's continued incarcerations for petty crimes and attempts to talk some sense into him.
5. Any: After the war, where do we go now?
6. Any: To end the war, a truce and peace offerings are made. It's decided to seal the treaty with a ceremonial bonding - Megatron nominates Starscream, and Optimus refuses to candidate anyone but himself, both with very specific reasons in mind.
7. G1: When Optimus Prime is brought back from the dead, Starscream's ghost interferes and both their sparks end up in the same body. This is a chance to not only drive the Prime nuts, but also attempt to possess him for his own ends.
8. G1 pre-war - Orion has always harbored a secret interest in flight and quickly discovers how short of a step it is from fascination to fetish. Starscream has always loved flattery.
9. G1 pre-war - Orion has the misfortune to become involved in one of Starscream’s weekly bar fights. He’s forced to run away and hide with the seeker for the time being to avoid the authorities looking for them.
10. Any: "Awkward first meetings" I.E. (Can be prompt or example for the prompt- Optronix/Orion/Optimus and Starscream end up at the same medic. They have to wait a while in that waiting room. OP can't stop babbling, what with the nervousness ... and Starscream wants to kill him.)
11. Any: "New world, new start"
Think Superman Explanation. Yellow sun = super powers. Except for Transformers, it's more like yellow sun = settle down and have younglings.
Add in human allies who are also feeding Autobots ... and suddenly, the Autobots aren't interested in fighting. They're a lot more interested in flirting ... with the Decepticons.
D= Forget Megatron, Optimus is interested in Megatron's second. Afterall, the Prime has all the strength, size, patience, and stubborn truckness that any offspring of his could possibly need. He's totally after super smarts, speed, self-preservation, and flight
12. "First flight" and "First crashes" For either Optimus or Starscream.
13. G1: "Game Over. Continue or Restart?" Starscream died. Then he woke up, in his own berth, before The War ever started. Opportunity lies like an energon cube before him, he need only reach out and take it. Or he might end up meeting an awfully cute archivist who looks at him with big blue doe eyes that Starscream had never noticed before!
Sub-notes: After the contest has ended, participants can let the MODs know if they'd like to claim their fics. I would rather not delete the submission posts, but they can be edited to add your names as ownership, because we all know we like to take credit where credit is due! If you really want to, the post can be deleted and you can repost under your name, but realize that that will delete any comments your submission already had. Conversely, if there is no response from the author or artist it will be assumed that they would rather remain anonymous, which is also completely acceptable.
To Prompters: Thank you for your participation again! You may see your prompts here and you may not. Please know that some prompts may be slightly modified to better fit the theme. This was merely done for the sake of continuity and not to be taken in an offensive way. You also may not see prompts that were posted.
