Title: it takes two to whisper
Fandom: LOST
Summary: Ilana started it, but he finishes it.
Pairing: Ilana/Jacob
Rating: R, for implied incest.
Notes: -sigh- Another not so strong fic that had to get written. :/

There's blood on her hands when she comes near him. Don't, Jacob warns, stepping back and looking away.

What are you afraid of?

I said don't, Ilana. Her name brings her down - he rarely uses it.

But she's not good at following orders, especially Jacob's. She moves close, brushing her lips over his, tasting something like aloe and metal, but she's not sure. Nothing about him is sure. The blood on her hands is rabbit blood, thin and slippery when she presses her palms over his cheeks and pulls him closer.

There was a wall there, and a line to go with it. And Jacob had always sworn to keep it up, the defend it from him and anything else that tried to get in. Tried to hurt her.

He never thought he'd be the one to break it down.

She holds him because she doesn't know the truth, doesn't know what they are. And she kisses his jaw and peels away his blood-stained shirt and drags her teeth along his chest and talks about love and other far away things that Jacob doesn't have the luxury or time to feel.

He wants to say he'll be able to stop, but he can't. He won't and when it happens, it's a moment he'll spend forever and a day trying to forget. She cries and she keeps saying it hurts, stop, it hurts but she started it and he'll reason like that for as long as he (she) lives.

Ilana started it, but he finishes it. Pulling away from her, he knows things aren't going to be the same again. He can heal the bruises and calm her beating heart, but he can't (never could) take the memories from her mind.

Finally, she stands on shaking legs and stumbles from the statue, into the sand, shivering and wondering where all the minutes and hours we spend feeling shame go, if she could collect them in a box and drown them in the sea.

In the morning, neither talks about what happened. There is rabbit meat for breakfast, something she stole from his people across the way. They eat in silence. Ilana swims. Jacob thinks.

If I ask you to leave, will you?

Of course, she says, drying her hair on an old lenin blouse.

I'll come back for you. But for now, you need to go.

She leaves that evening. Jacob burns the clothes she left behind. And goes back to his numbers.
