Emerson is an asshole. Personally, I'm opposed to letting assholes speak, period. This will be the first problem I address when I am elected Supreme Ruler of the Universe.
I hate assholes too but they still have a right to speak(and in this case it was a joke, even if it was a dumb one).
What's killing me is that as soon as some people found out who it was the shit hit the fan. Oh it was Emerson? The one who hates H/Hr shippers? How dare he do that! How dare he speak out against slash!(and he wasn't from what I'm reading), he got kicked out of the panel(someone else there said that they got up and left on their own accord), etc. I'd just like to know the real story without all the extra being put on it you know?
Well I was there when the whole thing went down, and it was pretty fucking stupid. I wasn't aware it was Emerson at the time -- in fact my main reaction was to the guy playing Draco, who had dark hair and really dark skin so I LOL'd at the idea that he was supposed to be Draco. But the thing that makes it so DUMB was standing up to heckle at a panel -- ANY panel -- in the first place. Um, hello? Is there any chance of you ever acting like an adult? Or should we just expect you to be an idiot whenever and wherever you can for the rest of your life?
And I don't know if they left on their own or if they were thrown out. I saw them leave, but I figured they'd decided their joke was over with and were moving on to be idiots at another panel of their choosing.
lol he could have at least made his hair blond! XD

See that's the thing I'm not getting, was he making a stupid joke(How come people always slash us? I'm Draco!) or was he truly heckling the panel with booooo you suck type of comments? Cause that's not on at all, from what I'm reading he made a joke and some folks were not amused at the joke. :S
I'mreadingthecomments like WTF? Emerson shouldn't state his opinion? What opinion did he state? Emerson was dressed up as Draco and said to his "Harry" "Why does everyone ship us?" How the hell did that translate to "Slash is evil and you guys shouldn't do this panel!"
If you don't like the boy that's fine but damn get a grip.
ha dude I don't care. This post is public because I wanted to know what the heck happened and I was just kinda WTF over some of the comments over there about how Emerson should "act" since he's a public known HP figure and all. :\
Someone should let celebrities know that since they're known figures they shouldn't share their opinions because someone might think they speak for their whole group. Because we all know that everyone in every group believes exactly the same way as the 'leader' of their group. Just go ask Catholics.
I'd actually forgotten about it until the wank happened. It was sort of a 'funny in a stupid' way kind of thing that happened and then was over. I will say that Emerson kinda rubbed me the wrong way over the weekend (he comes across as rather cocky) but that incident didn't really bug me that much. It was just a stupid silly little prank.
Actually when it first happened I thought it was something the presenters came up with as a little in joke - the panel was about slash vs. het and these two guys were joking about being Harry and Draco and not really diggin' each other so it just seemed that it was a joke to kick off the panel. But then they went on for much longer (and actually it really wasn't THAT long but long enough to cue me in that it wasn't part of the panel) and then some security woman came up from behind me muttering about how she was going to take care of them.
Then they sat down and were quite for a little bit and then left maybe half way through the discussion on their own.
Well from where I was sitting I couldn't hear what the security woman said to them (probably to sit down and shut up) but they left on their own accord.
I don't really dabble perse, but I did read about it. I'm fascinated by it, you could say.
Mainly, it kind of raised my hackles even though I'm not involved because it set off my "fans not respecting each others differences" gag reflex. I just hate it when that happens >.<<
