Exercise is good for you, except when it's not...

I am one of those people who simply dislikes exercise. In an attempt to get it done, however, I had been going with friends to a swim aerobic class once a week. Meeting with friends makes it easier to go. Having brunch afterwards also helped ( Read more... )

I get similar pain when I overdo it in kung fu. The style I do heavily involves shoulder, back, and arm muscles...rather like swimming.

Clearly we're both overdoing it, at least on occasion. Since I started strength training I don't get these kinds of headaches nearly as often; I suspect the one I've had this week is due in part to training while fatigued.

Did the swim class involve any sort of stretching, warm-up or warm-down? I'm terrible about doing that when I should but it can help.

They do have a warm up and cool down, which I did do. I suspect strength training is needed to fully solve the problem. I hate how I feel when I have pain and headaches. Makes me grateful I don't have regular migraines or chronic fatigue syndrome.
